Expressing Intention

Expressing intention is an expression of hope from someone. This means that an expression is indirectly an event that has not yet happened because it is still a form of hope. Tenses used is future tense.

Social function:

·         I would like to

·         I will

·         I am going to

·         I would rather

Example:

·         I would like to tell about my family

·         I will eat

·         I am going to the park

·         I would rather noodle than fried chicken

To express willingness use “will”

(+) subject + will + V1 + o/c

(-) subject + will not + V1 + o/c

(?) will + subject + V1 + o/c

To express a prior pion: use only “be going to”

(+) s + be going to + V1 + o/c

(-) s + be going to + V1 + c

(?) be + s + going to + V1 + o/c

I would like:

I will:

1.      I will come to your house

2.      I will visit your party

I am going to:

1.      I am going to your house tomorrow

Formula:                         

·         Active: subject = verb + object

·         Passive: subject + verb + to be V3 + object

·         Example: the son is helped by mary

Synopsis (Alma)

Tells the story of a girl who sees a doll that looks like her in a shop. When she approached the doll, she changed into the doll and became the store’s collection permanently.

Announcement Text

·         Announcement text is a text that contains information provided directly and indirectly.

·         Purpose: to inform the announcement text information about an event, job, new admission.

·         Section of announcement

1.      The title/type of event

2.      Date and time

3.      Place/venue

4.      Contact person

Synopsis (Watermelon a cautionary tale)

A boy who eat watermelons, but he also eats seed which is not allowed to eat. Then the one day this boy feels stomach ache turns out that his stomach pain is due to the growth of watermelon, then starts to exit the tree trunk from his nose over time the effect even worse he became a watermelon.

Chapter 7

Simple past tense

S + verb2 + o      

In simple pas tense sentences, the verb/verb used is the second verb form. There are 2 types of verb/verb namely regular verb and irregular verb. For regular verbs added/-d behind the first form of verbs.

Example:

         Stay > stayed

        Punch > punched
    
       Touch > touched

     Watch > watched

For irregular verbs, including to be, the form of the two verbs is very different.

Example:
Begin > began

Drink > drunk

Run > ran

Simple present tense

·         S + verb 1 + s/es

·         S + am/is/are

Synopsis (Doraemon: ayo naik pesawat serangga)

One day, suneo showed a photo to nobita, shizuka, and giant that he had boarded a private plane which was very good and then he joined giant and shizuka except nobita because of annoying. Nobita also asked doraemon for help, then was given a tool to control insect by sticking it on the insect’s head and he can control it like an airplane.
